Little Red — also known as Xiao Hong (小红) — is a champion durian with a remarkable heritage. Born from a seedling of the legendary Khun Poh Ang Bak, this variety was planted by the grandson of the late Liew Kun Poh near the family farmhouse in Penang's Balik Pulau area. What grew from that seed wasn't another Khun Poh — it was something uniquely its own. Little Red went on to win champion status in 1993, and demand for it has never looked back.

Flavour & Texture

Little Red is a wonderfully soft, wet durian with a melt-in-your-mouth texture — like scooping ice cream with your fingers. The taste leans sweet rather than bitter, with a gentle floral note that sets it apart from its bolder parent. The flesh is typically a warm yellow-gold, and the seeds are flat, similar to Musang King.

This makes Little Red one of the best introductory durians for first-timers, while still being deeply satisfying for seasoned durian lovers who prefer a lighter, more delicate profile.
